Good news for South African travellers planning an overseas adventure. Turkish Airlines is set to expand its South African operations later this year, adding extra flights to both Cape Town and Johannesburg and giving passengers more flexibility when travelling to Türkiye and beyond.

From late October 2026, the airline will increase its South African schedule from 14 to 20 weekly flights, making it easier for both leisure and business travellers to reach one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.
More flights between South Africa and Türkiye
Starting 25 October 2026, Turkish Airlines will increase its Johannesburg service from seven to 10 weekly flights. A day later, on 26 October 2026, Cape Town will also see its weekly flights rise from seven to 10.
The additional services are expected to improve travel flexibility, offering South Africans more departure options while creating smoother connections through Istanbul to destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

Easier access to more than 350 destinations
One of the biggest advantages of flying with Turkish Airlines is its extensive global network. Through its hub in Istanbul, travellers can connect to more than 350 destinations across six continents, making the city an increasingly popular gateway for international travel.
For those with longer layovers, the airline also offers programmes that allow eligible passengers to make the most of their time in Türkiye. The Touristanbul programme includes complimentary guided city tours for qualifying transit passengers, while the Stopover in Istanbul programme gives eligible travellers the opportunity to extend their stay and experience one of the world’s most fascinating cities before continuing their journey.
Business Class passengers can also enjoy access to Turkish Airlines’ renowned Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport.
Seasonal schedule through March 2027
According to the published flight schedule, the additional Johannesburg services will operate from 25 October 2026 until 27 March 2027, while the extra Cape Town flights will run from 26 October 2026 until 28 March 2027.
The expansion highlights Turkish Airlines’ continued investment in the South African market and provides travellers with more convenient options when flying to Türkiye or connecting to destinations around the world.
