Blending high-energy aviation displays with the relaxed atmosphere of one of the Western Cape’s best-known wine estates, the event promises a full day of entertainment for aviation enthusiasts, families and day visitors alike.
Set against rolling vineyards and mountain views, the airshow has steadily grown into one of South Africa’s more distinctive aviation events. It combines the thrill of aerobatics with food, wine and family-friendly experiences, creating an outing that appeals to far more than dedicated plane spotters.
This year’s flying programme will run from 10:00 to 15:00 and features a line-up of crowd favourites. Spectators can expect precision aerobatics from the Marksman Aerobatic Display Team, formation flying by the Raptors RV Display Team, demonstrations by the Aérospatiale Gazelle and a performance from the Aero L-29 Delfín jet display. Together, the acts are expected to showcase everything from tight aerial manoeuvres to high-speed jet action.

Adding insight to the experience will be commentator Ian Fraser, who will guide audiences through the programme while sharing background on the aircraft, pilots and flying techniques on display.
While the action unfolds overhead, the estate itself will offer plenty for visitors to explore on the ground. Guests can enjoy wine tastings, gourmet food stalls, craft vendors and family entertainment throughout the day. The setting remains part of the event’s appeal, with Vergelegen’s historic grounds and scenic surroundings helping to create a more relaxed alternative to the traditional airshow format.

The 2026 edition is supported by Nedbank, Hatfield Motor Group and Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa. Organisers say gates will open early to give visitors enough time to experience the full programme of activities before the flying displays begin.
Safety and professional operations remain a key focus for the organisers, with experienced coordination teams overseeing the event throughout the day.
Over the years, Wings Over Winelands has become a notable fixture on South Africa’s aviation calendar, drawing visitors from around the country while also boosting tourism and local business activity in the Cape Winelands region.
