Across the globe, more and more countries are stepping up their efforts when it comes to environmental conservation. This has resulted in responsible and eco-friendly tourism that is great for our planet and all its inhabitants.

Here are some of the world’s most eco-friendly destinations:

Iceland

Great for a visit at any time of the year, Iceland boasts stunning scenery and natural hot springs.

The destination is almost entirely powered by geo-thermal energy, making it one of the greenest countries in the world. Moreover, the country fights against ocean pollution and supports sustainable fishing practices.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica offers an impressive array of wildlife and a true sense of adventure. As such, it is a travel destination that should be on everybody’s list for eco-travel.

This country in Central America is one of the world’s most eco-friendly destinations, producing almost 93% of its electricity from renewable sources.

Norway

Beautiful and mountainous, Norway is a destination that has conservation as a big part of its culture. There are also at least eight parts of Norway that have been officially certified as sustainable by the International Sustainable Tourism Initiative.

Moreover, the country is working towards becoming CO2 neutral by 2030 as it continues to invest in emission-reduction technology.

Known and loved for its windmills and beautiful tulip fields, the Netherlands is an excellent eco-friendly destination.

For over 20 years, the country has met more than 70% of its carbon emission reduction goals. It has also successfully managed to clean up rivers and improve waste management.
